  • How will we recognize the tour vehicle?

    The Extranomical logo is displayed on the side of the vehicle. It will say "Extranomical Tours" and is a very colorful tour vehicle with lots of pictures on the side. Alternatively, if your tour is on a luxury vehicle be on the look out for an all black vehicle that says Extranomical in white on the side.

  • Are there restrooms on board the vehicles?

    We cannot guarantee restroom facilities on any of our tours, although on our Total Yosemite Experience tour, we do make stops throughout the tour and there will be opportunities at the park for you to use the restroom.

  • What do I have to be aware of when traveling with a child?

    Please note that for your child's safety, we require you to bring a child safety seat or booster seat for all children under 8 years of age or 4' 9" in height, as dictated by California State Law. You will be required to bring your own child seat on all motor vehicle tours. Failure to provide a seat for your child will result in forfeit of your seats on the tour without a refund.

  • What kind of luggage am I allowed to bring?

    Customers are allowed up to 2 items (ie. 1 Personal item + 1 Overnight bag) to travel free of charge. These items must be within the size limitations. Each additional item above the allowance will incur a $25 excess luggage fee. Maximum Dimensions for Luggage -Overnight Bag size: 24”x16”x10”, (or 60cm x 40cm x 58 cm).

    Any Oversize luggage larger than the maximum size noted is $50 regardless of personal items brought on board.  (i.e. 1 Oversized Luggage - $50, 2 Oversized pieces = $100). 

  • Can I bring a wheelchair on the vehicle?

    We are only able to accommodate collapsible wheelchairs that fold flat. Please notify us in advance if you are bringing a wheelchair on the tour so that we can notify the driver of your vehicle.

  • Do you have a lost and found?

    Yes, items left in the vehicle are stored in a lost and found area for 30 days. If you left something on one of our tours, please give us a call at toll-free (866) 231-3752 to see if it has been found. Once you have confirmed with us that your item has been found by our staff and you are still in town, you can come by to pick up your item. Otherwise, we will ship almost any item to any destination within the U.S. for a flat fee of $25. Extranomical Tours is not responsible for lost or stolen items.   • How accurate are the times on the itinerary?

    Times listed are approximates only. Traffic and other unforeseen issues can cause delays or changes in these time which are out of our control. Please do not make flight/travel arrangements on the same day as your tour.

  • What is your address?

    We are located at 928 Harrison St. San Francisco, CA 94107 (between 5th Street and 6th Street).

After a convenient hotel pickup, we start this 1-day San Francisco tour by exploring the city’s legendary waterfront, learning the stories of the Embarcadero, Levi’s Plaza and Fisherman's Wharf. We’ll even take a brief coffee break at the Ferry Building. Can you spot the wild cherry-headed parrots?

Then we make our way to Pier 33 where you’ll board the ferry to infamous Alcatraz Island! Listen to a way cool audio presentation featuring actual recordings of inmates and guards that worked and inhabited the island! Our San Francisco Alcatraz tour gives the flexibility to enjoy some time to roam and explore this historic spot. Group selfie! Nice!

After 2-3 hours on the “rock”, your day has only begun!! You’ll take one of the late-morning ferries to San Francisco so you can join for the afternoon portion of your tour.

Get ready, get set, and here we go! Our “city insider's" tour is about to begin! We'll visit North Beach, a historic Italian neighborhood. So Cool! While there, we’ll point out Lombard Street, Coit Tower, Washington Square and more. Next, we’ll visit the Palace of Fine Arts. That’s one gorgeous building! And the main event—a trip across the Golden Gate Bridge! Selfies galore!

On this tour, you’ll also see the City’s rugged coastline. Pause to enjoy cliff-side views of “city by the bay”. Be blown away by the beauty of Golden Gate Park.

Our San Francisco one-day tour will take you through the culturally rich neighborhoods of San Francisco! You’ll learn about what made the Haight-Ashbury, Mission and Castro districts what they are and why they’re important to so many. Take a slow drive through Chinatown and Nob Hill (some say, “Snob Hill” Ha!) Note that traffic in San Francisco can be tricky. But don’t worry: We’ll tweak the itinerary as needed to give you the best possible tour.

Part 1 – Pickup at your hotel:

  • Your Extranomical experience “San Francisco Alcatraz Tour” will begin at your downtown or Wharf to your hotel first thing in the morning to make the beginning of your day a breeze. Awesome! Once you become comfortable onboard, we suggest making new friends with your fellow travelers.
  • Right after we begin, we’ll already be at San Francisco’s Waterfront and the Ferry Building. This is the perfect time and place to grab some coffee and breakfast snacks. We love gummy bears and trail mix! Delicious!

Part 2 - Special morning attraction:

  • First, you will be dropped off at Pier 33 where we will board our ferry to Alcatraz Island! I've got my Alcatraz Tour Tickets! Sweet! Every San Francisco City Tour with Alcatraz tour begins with a forty-five-minute audio presentation titled "Doing Time: The Alcatraz Cell House Tour” featuring actual live recordings from inmates and guards! How cool is that! Once the Alcatraz audio tour has concluded, feel free to roam the island as long as you don’t end up in Al Capone's cell! Just Kidding!

Lunch:

  • Lunchtime! After exploring Alcatraz and returning by ferry to Pier 41, you have some more time to have time to grab some lunch. So many restaurants! So many versions of cioppino! Yum! Then, your tour meets back up at 1:40 pm at the Zephyr Hotel to begin your comprehensive San Francisco City Tour.

Part 4 - Late afternoon:

  • Make sure you've uploaded every Snap and Instagram pictures to your timelines before we begin our San Francisco One Day Tour, starting with the Palace of Fine Arts. After a few selfies, we’ll all journey briefly across the grand Golden Gate Bridge. Want that perfect shot of the Bridge, you’ll get it at Fort Point at the base of the south tower. Nice!
  • Next, we enter Golden Gate Park from the Ocean Beach entrance - Gorgeous! Here, you’ll see the Bison Paddock. Some enormous Dutch windmills! Awesomeness!
  • You’ll have time to stretch your legs and do some exploring at the Music Concourse. Check out the outdoor sculpture garden at the de Young Museum. If you move quickly, you’ll have just enough time to take a quick tour of the Japanese Tea Garden. It's Zen-sational!
  • Your 1-day tour of San Francisco will also visit The Haight-Ashbury! Here, at the epicenter for the Summer of Love you may want to weave a couple of daisies into your hair or make the universal sign for peace! Some really rocking houses are coming, like The Grateful Dead House, Jimi Hendrix Red House. Oh yeah! We will also see some Victorian homes that survived the fire of 1906. Love it!
  • This San Francisco day tour passes through the storied Castro district and the Mission district with its public murals—some old, some still fresh! Yes, we also art fanatics!
  • Some more awesome architecture is coming your way! SF City Hall, The War Memorial Opera House, and The Pioneer Monument. Your Snapchat followers will be in a state of envy because these sights are Extranomically awesome!
  • Our next destination will be Nob Hill followed by Union Square. On this route, we’ll go right by Grace Cathedral, the Fairmont and Mark Hopkins hotels, the Pacific Union Club and much more! Chinatown’s living urban culture is always a fascinating sight to see. The traffic is crazy here, but we know the best way through it…
  • Lastly, we'll visit North Beach and the little Italy of San Francisco. You will see cute cafes, Washington Square Park, St. Peter & Paul Church, Telegraph Hill and Coit Tower. Even though this is where we conclude our tour, many of our guests get off and have dinner! Bon appétit!
