    • Park entrance fee
    • Valid ID
    • Camera
    • Money for additional wine tasting at the Sonoma Plaza
    • Sunscreen during summer months
    • Bottled water
    • Money for lunch
    • Winter clothes during the winter months
    • Solid shoes
  • What should I wear?

We recommend comfortable walking shoes, such as shoes or boots with rubber soles and treads. Hiking sandals (rather than beach sandals) can be worn on the Redwoods & Wine Country Escape during the summer months. High heels, flip-flops, and open-toe shoes are not recommended.

  • Is the Muir Woods entrance fee included? And how long do we spend inside Muir Woods?

The tour price does not include the Muir Woods entrance fee, which is $10 per person (based on 2016) and must be paid when you reach the entrance of the park. You have about an hour on your own inside the Muir Woods National Monument.

  • Which wineries are we going to visit?

On our Redwoods & Wine Country Escape tour we visit 3 wineries, located in Sonoma Valley and Napa Valley. Each winery stop ranges from 30-45 minutes. We’ve narrowed the list of winery stops to those that offer the best California Wine Country experience for our clientele. We have preferred partner wineries that we like to visit but the wineries may depend on the day. Occasionally, a winery on our tour may be closed for a private event, so our tour guides may change the itinerary on the day of the trip.

  • Does this tour go to Napa?

Yes, we do. The itinerary of visiting Napa Valley AND Sonoma Valley in combination with Muir Woods National Monument is what makes this tour unique.

  • Are wine tasting included and how much money do I need for the additional wine tastings in Sonoma Plaza?

Yes, all wine tasting fees at the 3 winery stops are included on this tour. If you want to join additional wine tasting, please feel free to do that. The wine tasting fees range from $5 to $20.

  • What languages are available for this tour?

The tour is narrated in English but we offer complimentary audio guides in 8 languages: Spanish, French, German, Italian, Korean, Mandarin, Japanese, and Portuguese. If an audio tour is required, please specify the languages needed in the comments section on the reservation page.

  • Is this tour suitable for children?

Yes, children of all ages are welcome on the tour though drinking alcohol is not permitted for those under the age of 21. Please bring a valid photo ID.

  • Do we stop at Golden Gate Bridge?

Yes, there will be about 15-minutes for a photo stop opportunity at the iconic Golden Gate Bridge.

  • Can we buy food or do we have to bring our own lunch?

You are more than welcome to bring a bagged lunch though you will have time to pick up lunch or sit down at a casual eatery at the Historic Sonoma Plaza.

  • What is the advantage of this combination tour compared to the tours separately?

The Redwoods & Wine Country Escape combines two of California's top attractions. You get the chance to see the Giant Redwood trees and you will join several wine tastings in both Napa Valley and Sonoma Valley - all in just one day. There is also a huge saving by booking this combination tour rather than booking both trips separately.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Golden Gate National Recreation Area now requires advance reservations for private vehicles wishing to utilize the parking areas at Muir Woods National Monument. We offer daily departures -- book with us and secure your spot to see the Redwoods.

Wineries Extranomical Visits – For over a decade Extranomical Tours has been creating amazing memories on our Wine Country tours from San Francisco. We’ve partnered with quality wineries, which offer the best California Wine Country experience for our clientele. The wineries we visit on our Redwoods and Wine Country tour provide complimentary wine tasting for our groups. We visit a range of wineries that are boutique and family-owned to large and grand, but they must have a friendly atmosphere, and offer beautiful scenery, quality wines and good value.

Extranomical Tours partners with a great combination of wineries in both Sonoma County and Napa Valley for our Redwoods and Wine Country Escape tour. All wineries offer a variety of local wines and a personalized experience no matter what day you go on the tour. Wineries may change based on availability but you will always experience a warm wine country welcome at each stop! We make sure that the wineries provide a relaxing setting as you indulge in crisp and fine wines and take in the exceptional views of California Wine Country

Discover our Redwoods & Wine Country Tour - We maximize the time you spend in to see the Sequoias Redwood trees and allow guests to enjoy the trails before the crowds. Explore the Coastal Redwood Sequoia groves. You’ll spend an hour enjoying California’s native flora and fauna, taking in giant ferns, moss-lined creeks, fresh bay leaf scented air from the many Laurel trees and squirrels, blue jays and deer if you’re lucky.

A brief drive North and you’ll find yourself in California’s renowned Wine Country. Spend a relaxing afternoon wine tasting, strolling the vineyards and learning about the practice of winemaking. Our Wine Country tour makes 3 tasting stops: 2 wineries and 1 at the historic Sonoma or Healdsburg Plaza spending 45 minutes to 1 hour at each location.

It is at this historic Sonoma plaza where you can enjoy an optional California cuisine paired with local wines in a comfortable private seating. The food and wine pairing will complete your wine country adventure by giving you a chance to test your newly gained wine knowledge and enhance your tasting experience. Make sure you book the Lunch Upgrade for this experience!

We are the only Redwoods and Wine Country tour that visits both Napa Valley & Sonoma wineries! All our wine tasting is complimentary and you’ll be able to taste a wide variety of amazing wines. The Wine Country plaza stop lasts about an hour, so you’ll have time to grab a bite to eat and visit a few more tasting rooms located around the plaza or join a three course lunch. We’ll provide you with a map of the plaza and must-see local shops and tasting rooms to maximize your time.

On the journey back to San Francisco we’ll make one last stop at a scenic look-out point with sweeping views of the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco bay and city skyline, Alcatraz and the Bay Bridge.

– Lydia K. on 03/15/2018

my tour guide Anthony what an awesome guide and humor.
– Shruti S. on 03/15/2018

You have to do this tour - 100%! Our guide Anthony was AMAZING and very entertaining. It was a great day that started off with about an hour and fifteen minutes at the Muir Woods - Anthony even told us how far to go in the trail so we would make it back in time before the buss left. Next, we went to a smaller winery in Sonoma, which, in my opinion, had the best wines, but wine is wine :) Then we did lunch and went to two more wineries after lunch. The drive to the wineries from Muir Woods took some time, but with Anthony time flew by, and it hardly felt like 30 minutes! 10/10 would recommend to others.
