• I am a non-resident. What are my options for paying the $100 non-resident fee?

  For commercial tours, the National Park Service authorities in Yosemite will only accept payment from the operator, not individuals. The preferred method of payment is for us to collect the non-resident fee before your tour using the payment link that we will provide after you make the reservation. You also have the option of paying the fee on the tour bus with a credit card or cash but you must clarify and approve the payment method with our Guest Services staff before joining the tour. There are currently no options to pay the $100 non-resident fee inside the park.

• Can I use my annual park pass?

  your annual pass does not provide additional savings on this tour.

  Non-U.S. Residents

  For non-U.S. residents, an annual pass can make a significant difference.

  • The standard $100 per-person entry fee applies to commercial tours.

  • If you are traveling with more than two people, the $250 non-resident annual pass may be more cost-effective than paying individual entry fees. This pass covers 4 people.

  • The pass is also a good option if you plan to visit multiple U.S. national parks during your trip.

  Non-resident passes must be purchased in advance or by credit card at the entrance to Yosemite National Park (cash not accepted).

• Can I be picked up from a different location other than Signia by Hilton San Jose?

  At the present time, we have only one pickup location in San Jose.

• What do I need to know about the pickup in San Jose?

  A 3rd party shuttle will pick up in San Jose and transport you to Livermore to meet our tour leader and vehicle. The transfer takes 40 to 60 minutes depending on traffic.

• Where can I park my car near Signia by Hilton?

  The Signia by Hilton has a parking garage but it is a bit expensive. We suggest trying the Impark Lot #367 at 285 S Market St just a block from the Hilton pickup location.

• How will I recognize the vehicle that will pick me up?

  Look for an SUV with identification as Bay Area Airport Shuttle. If there are fewer than 6 passengers making the transfer to Livermore, we will send you a link to an Uber whose location you can track on your phone.

• What do I need to know about the Giant Sequoias hike?

  For San Jose residents, Tuolumne Grove in Yosemite offers the closest access to Giant Sequoias – about 4 hours away and included in our tour. The hike is only available when trail conditions are safe, usually April to October.

  The hike is a 2-mile round trip on a paved trail with a steep incline on the return. Individuals with respiratory issues or not used to strenuous exercise may skip the hike and wait in the outdoor seating area.

  Other sequoia locations: While Sequoia National Park has larger groves, Yosemite’s Tuolumne Grove provides the best day-trip access from the South Bay, allowing you to combine giant sequoias with Yosemite’s iconic granite landscapes in one tour.

• Is a day enough time to see Yosemite?

  Absolutely! Our incredible 1-day tour visits all the top Yosemite attractions, like Tunnel View, El Capitan, Half Dome, Bridalveil Fall, Yosemite Falls, and the Giant Sequoias in Tuolumne Grove – making it the perfect way to experience both Yosemite and sequoias in one day.

  Day tour vs. longer stays: Our day tour is ideal for first-time visitors wanting to see the highlights efficiently. For those wanting more time for photography, hiking, or sunrise/sunset views, consider our Yosemite Overnight Tours. However, most guests find our comprehensive day tour provides an excellent Yosemite experience without the accommodation costs.

• How can I travel around the park during my free time?

  Walking is the best form of transportation in the Valley. We do not recommend public transportation or park shuttles during your free time since you cannot be certain about getting back to the tour vehicle on time. The most popular attractions are a short distance from the drop-off point near Yosemite Valley Lodge.

• Do you offer this tour in different languages?

  Our Yosemite tour has live narration in English, but we offer complimentary recorded audio guides in 8 languages: Spanish, French, German, Italian, Korean, Mandarin, Japanese, and Portuguese. If an audio guide is required, please specify the language when booking.

• What should I bring with me on tour?

  The weather in the Sierra Mountains can be unpredictable and you’ll be spending 4-5 hours outdoors. We recommend layers and comfortable shoes.

  Best months to visit: April-October offers the best weather and Giant Sequoia hike access. November-March provides fewer crowds and potential snow-capped mountain views, though we substitute the sequoia hike with additional Valley time during winter months.

  What to bring: Dress in layers, comfortable hiking shoes (not flip flops), light water-resistant jacket, camera, 1-liter water bottle, hat and sunscreen, sturdy umbrella (if rain is forecasted), and cash/credit card for meals and souvenirs.

• Are meals included? Can I buy or bring my own?

  Meals are not included on this tour. We do make a stop about halfway to and from Yosemite, where you can buy food and beverages. There are a few restaurants and a food court in Yosemite Valley. They are usually crowded, so it’s a good idea to bring or purchase a picnic lunch prior to arriving in the park.

• What stops do we have for photographs?

  Your Yosemite tour will make 5-6 stops for you to exit the vehicle and take some photographs although weather and traffic conditions may require your driver to alter the itinerary slightly. The usual stops are: Tuolumne Grove of Sequoias, Tunnel View, Bridalveil Fall, Valley View, El Capitan Meadow, and Yosemite Valley View lookout.

• What can I do during my free time in Yosemite Valley?

  Nice and easy hikes through Cook’s Meadow or to Lower Yosemite Falls or the Swinging Bridge can all be done during your free time. On clear days, biking to Yosemite Village, Mirror Lake or the Ahwahnee Hotel are great choices. Finally, the Ancel Adams Gallery is a wonderful showcase of the artist’s work. We do not recommend taking the park shuttle since the timing of the return trip can be unpredictable

• Are there restrooms on the bus?

  There are no restrooms on the bus, but we plan brief stops approximately every 2 hours to keep you comfortable and refreshed. Most stops include options for snacks and a chance to stretch. If you ever need an extra stop, just let us know, and we’ll be happy to accommodate!

• Is a guided tour of Yosemite worth it vs. driving yourself?

  Absolutely! Guided tours eliminate the stress of 4+ hours driving each way from San Jose, plus parking challenges, navigation, and entrance logistics. Our expert guides provide geological insights, historical context, and optimal timing to avoid crowds that you’d miss on a self-drive trip.

  Cost comparison: When you factor in gas ($80+), park entry fees ($35), parking fees, and the value of your time, our $269 tour offers excellent value. Plus, you can relax and enjoy the scenery instead of focusing on mountain driving.

• Should I visit redwoods or sequoias from San Jose?"

  From San Jose, you have great access to both! Coastal redwoods at Muir Woods are about 2 hours away, while Giant Sequoias in Yosemite are 4 hours away.

  The difference: Redwoods are the world’s tallest trees, creating a mystical fog-filled forest experience. Giant Sequoias are the largest trees by volume, offering a wilderness experience in Yosemite’s dramatic granite landscape.

  Our recommendation: Many guests do both on separate trips – Muir Woods for a half-day nature escape, and our Yosemite tour for a full wilderness adventure. If you can only choose one, sequoias offer more diverse scenery with waterfalls, granite cliffs, and meadows alongside the ancient trees.

• Is it better to stay in Yosemite or take a day tour?

  For first-time visitors from San Jose, day tours offer the best value and convenience. You’ll see all major highlights without accommodation costs (Yosemite lodging runs $400+ per night and books months ahead).

  Day tour advantages: No planning stress, expert guidance, comfortable transportation, and you sleep in your own bed. Perfect for busy schedules and families.
