Tour Details

On this all-Napa, all-highlights private wine tasting tour from San Francisco, you will be delighted with the history, architecture, idyllic vineyards, and memorable toasts. Your private wine enthusiast guide will prepare you for experiences at three of the most celebrated Napa Valley wineries. Once there, you will be treated to reserve wines estate grown in the California Wine Country.

Your private San Francisco wine tour to Napa Valley begins as you cross the Bay Bridge and take in incredible views of the city skyline.  As you travel, your private group will learn about the many microclimates and soil types that combine to produce some of the world’s best winemaking grapes – Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Zinfandel, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc.

Your private tour starts at Castello di Amorosa, a medieval-styled Tuscan castle winery constructed using more than 200 containers of European materials to furnish the vaulted wine cellars, moat, drawbridge, towers, courtyards, and armory. Happily, Castello di Amorosa puts the same attention into its wines which are elegant, intensely flavored, and well-balanced.

Your lunch break is in charming Calistoga, California. Among its hot springs, elegant spas and yoga studios, you’ll have no trouble finding the perfect lunch spot – perhaps sampling another locally crafted wine with your meal. Before or after lunch, your private Napa wine tasting tour takes a fun photo stop at the Napa Valley Welcome Sign.

Unique Tamber Bey Winery shares its idyllic 22 acres with Sundance Ranch, a world-class equestrian facility. From the tasting courtyard, your private group will enjoy stunning views of Mount St. Helena, grazing Arabian horses and the winemaker’s selection of estate-grown Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Chardonnay wines.

Your Napa experience finishes overlooking a sun soaked Carneros vineyard that is perfectly situated to be cooled each evening by breezes from San Pablo Bay—ideal conditions for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes. The terroir has been cultivated for over 100 years (and for many years by the Michael Mondavi Family Estate). Take time to chill while enjoying a private, seated tasting of reserve Napa Valley wines by the winemakers at Kieu Hoang.

On the journey back to San Francisco (weather permitting) we’ll make one final stop at a scenic look-out point with sweeping views of the Golden Gate Bridge where you can snap some keepsake photos of Marin Headlands, San Francisco skyline, and Alcatraz Island.

Caters to your flexible schedule!

We used Extranomical for two separate field trip tours with 2 teachers and 24 students in our college architecture program. In each case working with them to set up the tours and arrange pickup areas went very smoothly. The drivers were very good at keeping up the route schedule, keeping the bus comfortable, and even being flexible when we had to make a last minute route change on the way back from our recent trip. They also had the most competitive prices for our type of trip. We had used them in prior years and based on the number of good trips we have had we will continue to only go to them when planning future trips

Very polite guide!

Our driver was excellent. He was polite and on time and a good driver with a pleasant manor. This is the first time I did a tour so I was expecting more Touring information as he was driving across the bridge, sites along the way, etc.

Very polite guide!

Our driver was excellent. He was polite and on time and a good driver with a pleasant manor. This is the first time I did a tour so I was expecting more Touring information as he was driving across the bridge, sites along the way, etc. He only talked when we were closer to our destination. Since we are locals maybe he thoughts his comments might be redundant. All in all a great day thanks to him for getting us up and back safely.
