This private Napa and Sonoma wine tour is the perfect combination of exploration and tasting in California’s Wine Country. Your private group will visit and taste at three wineries showing off the distinctive terroirs and vintages that are available exclusively at the winery.
The description below is a sample itinerary.
Relax in Comfort On the Journey to the Wine Country
Enjoy the view as we roll through the golden hills and green pastures on our way to the California wine country. A wine enthusiast guide accompanies your private wine country tour, adding expert insights and a great passion for wine.
Tour and Taste a Boutique, Family-owned Winery
The Sonoma Valley is perfectly situated in a geographic Goldilocks zone. There’s a unique mix of sunshine, cool air from the bays of San Francisco and San Pablo. Everything combines to help the grapes grow plump and produce wine perfection.
The winemaker at our first winery will proudly describe how they have combined their natural farming methods with traditional wine-making techniques. Your group will appreciate the passion they bring to making their estate-bottled wines the finest that the fertile soil and Mother Nature allows.
Have Lunch and Explore Historic Sonoma Plaza
For lunch, the tour makes a stop at historic Downtown Sonoma Square which offers a wonderful variety of delightful dining options. After lunch, the group will have time to unwind as it investigates one-of-a-kind art galleries, gourmet food shops, and historical landmarks.
After lunch, the tour heads to a winery with a slightly higher and cooler micro-climate. Popular White Zinfandels thrive here. You will enjoy their sweeter, smoother profile and understand how they burst onto the California Wine Country scene a few decades ago.
Keep the Fun Going in Napa Valley
We will finish the private Wine Country tour on a high note when we visit a winery that exudes Napa Valley charm. The winery is dedicated to celebrating the history of the place and inspirational scenery. The group will enjoy three estate wines while relaxing on a sunny wrap-around porch overlooking the vineyard.
After our third winery, your private Wine Country Tour will begin its return through golden hills to your group’s San Francisco Bay Area pickup location. But don’t relax too much! Stunning landscapes await as the sun settles into the Pacific Coast.

Memorable and exciting!
Excellent small group (12 guests) tour of Napa and three wineries. Our first stop at the Castello di Amorosa Winery near Calistoga, at a huge castle, was both memorable and exciting.

Excellent small group (12 guests) tour of Napa and three wineries. Our first stop at the Castello di Amorosa Winery near Calistoga, at a huge castle, was both memorable and exciting. Plenty of time for lunch in Calistoga, followed by two wineries in the afternoon. Last stop was at the Golden Gate Bridge for photos. Our tour driver and representative for this day (Randall) was both knowledgeable and humorous. All in all, a perfect day!

Great experience!
Our guide Kimmy was super knowledgeable and upbeat. She made constant effort to ensure everyone was comfortable throughout the trip. Also, everything wss very punctual. Great experience! All three wineries we visited were well chosen as they were all unique to one another, providing us a diverse tour for our first Napa experience. Our semi private tour was with 3 other couples (8 in total), all from different parts of the world (Quebec, London and Florida...and we were from Vancouver)..so that was a great experience too. Highly recommend.

well planned
Tour and stops well planned. Communication before your was good. Knowledgeable and entertaining bus driver, Randall. Their service was rushed and they appeared understaffed at the last two stops. May have to do with Covid. Thanks

Love it!
Loved the castle, if you are able to have lunch at the Oakville Grocery definitely do that vs in Calistoga. You will have more time for tasting :)

Relaxing experience
It was a very relaxing experience from start to finish. Our driver, Kimmie was very knowledgeable, accommodating, professional, communicative, warm and was always on time.
There were 2 portions that I think could use some improvement. I felt like choosing vineyards closer to one another in proximity would’ve made the experience better, cutting down on the travel time from one vineyard to the other. Additionally, I would also cut back the lunch time. Our lunch was approx 1.5 hrs and I felt that extra time could’ve been spent at one of the vineyards instead.
Overall I would recommend Extranomical wine tours and we truely enjoyed the experience with Kimmie.

Caters to your flexible schedule!
We used Extranomical for two separate field trip tours with 2 teachers and 24 students in our college architecture program. In each case working with them to set up the tours and arrange pickup areas went very smoothly.

Caters to your flexible schedule!
We used Extranomical for two separate field trip tours with 2 teachers and 24 students in our college architecture program. In each case working with them to set up the tours and arrange pickup areas went very smoothly. The drivers were very good at keeping up the route schedule, keeping the bus comfortable, and even being flexible when we had to make a last minute route change on the way back from our recent trip. They also had the most competitive prices for our type of trip. We had used them in prior years and based on the number of good trips we have had we will continue to only go to them when planning future trips

Very polite guide!
Our driver was excellent. He was polite and on time and a good driver with a pleasant manor. This is the first time I did a tour so I was expecting more Touring information as he was driving across the bridge, sites along the way, etc.

Our driver was excellent. He was polite and on time and a good driver with a pleasant manor. This is the first time I did a tour so I was expecting more Touring information as he was driving across the bridge, sites along the way, etc. He only talked when we were closer to our destination. Since we are locals maybe he thoughts his comments might be redundant. All in all a great day thanks to him for getting us up and back safely.

We visit three (3) wineries, located in Sonoma Valley and Napa Valley. Each winery stop ranges from 40-50 minutes. We’ve narrowed the list of winery stops to those that offer the best California Wine Country experience for our clientele. We have preferred partner wineries that we like to visit but the wineries may depend on the day.
-
Yes, the wine tasting and touring fees at the wineries are included in the tour price. If you request additional wine at any of the stops, you may do so and pay for it separately.

We offer a complimentary pick-up from hotels located in San Francisco. If you are staying away from the downtown area, we suggest taking a shared ride service or public transportation to the Hilton Union Square hotel on O’Farrell Street. We will pick you up outside the Mason Street side entrance.

San Francisco can be chilly in the morning, so it’s best to dress in layers and wear comfortable walking shoes or sandals.
