Start your Redwoods and Wine Country tour by visiting an old-growth California Redwoods forest in Muir Woods National Monument (or in another park) ahead of the crowds. Spot morning fog lifting from the Coastal Redwood canopy that soars for hundreds of feet above your head. Stroll along pristine nature trails and look out for native coastal ferns, clover, squirrels, foxes, and even deer.

Next, your expert wine guide will lead you to sip the good life on this Sonoma Valley and Napa Valley tour. The three wineries you visit will be delightful in their own unique ways. At each exclusively arranged experience, you’ll enjoy a friendly wine country welcome and breathtaking scenery while learning the stories behind the wineries.

The wines you enjoy will have been selected by the winemakers themselves. Be ready to add to your wine cellar - most of the wines are not sold in retail stores. If you would like to learn more about some of the wineries we visit on Extranomical wine country tours click here.

Spend your lunch break exploring Sonoma Plaza’s many restaurants, boutique shops, and wine tasting rooms. Upgrade your California wine country tour with a food and wine pairing experience where you’ll be treated to California cuisine along with a collection of local wines. Check out the seasonally updated menu.

The afternoon portion of your redwoods and wine country tour will include exploring Napa Valley and Instagram-worthy experiences at two more boutique wineries. Get to know the winemakers and unique features of their wine offerings.

On the journey back to San Francisco (weather permitting) we’ll make one final stop at a scenic look-out point with sweeping views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Marin Headlands, San Francisco skyline, Alcatraz, and the Bay Bridge where you can take some fabulous photos while reflecting upon the amazing day that you have had!

Exact destinations and itinerary may differ due to weather, road conditions, and the guide’s discretion.

For international guests, please be aware that the legal drinking age in the United States is 21 years of age.

For the rare event that commercial parking is not available at Muir Woods, we reserve the right to arrange an alternative destination for experiencing Giant Coast Redwoods during this tour.

Important Information

What do I need to bring?

Park entrance fee
Valid ID
Camera
Money for additional wine tasting or lunch at the Sonoma Plaza
Sunscreen during summer months
Bottled water
Warm clothes during the winter months
Solid shoes

What should I wear?

We recommend comfortable walking shoes, such as shoes or boots with rubber soles and treads. Hiking sandals (rather than beach sandals) can be worn on the Redwoods & Wine Country Tour during the summer months. High heels and flip-flops are not recommended.

Is the Muir Woods entrance fee included? And how long do we spend inside Muir Woods?

Unless otherwise stated, the tour price does not include the Muir Woods entrance fee, which is $15 per person and must be paid when you reach the entrance of the park. You have about an hour on your own inside the Muir Woods National Monument.

Which wineries are we going to visit?

On our Redwoods & Wine Country Tour we visit 3 wineries, located in Sonoma Valley and Napa Valley. Each winery stop ranges from 40-45 minutes. We’ve narrowed the list of winery stops to those that offer the best California Wine Country experience for our clientele. We have preferred partner wineries that we like to visit but the wineries may depend on the day. Occasionally, a winery on our tour may be closed for a private event, so our tour guides may change the itinerary on the day of the trip.

Does this tour go to Napa?

Yes, we do. The itinerary of visiting Napa Valley AND Sonoma Valley in combination with Muir Woods National Monument is what makes this tour unique.

Are wine tasting included and how much money do I need for the additional wine tastings in Sonoma Plaza?

Yes, all wine tasting fees at the 3 winery stops are included on this tour. If you want to join additional wine tasting, please feel free to do that. The wine tasting fees range from $10 to $20.

What languages are available for this tour?

The tour is narrated in English but we offer complimentary audio guides in 8 languages: Spanish, French, German, Italian, Korean, Mandarin, Japanese, and Portuguese. If an audio tour is required, please specify the languages needed during the booking process.

Is this tour suitable for children?

We do not recommend bringing children under 6 years old on this tour. Drinking alcohol is not permitted for those under the age of 21. Please bring a valid photo ID.

Do we stop at Golden Gate Bridge?

Yes, there will be about 15-minutes for a photo stop opportunity at the iconic Golden Gate Bridge (weather permitting).

Can we buy food or do we have to bring our own lunch?

You are more than welcome to bring a bagged lunch though you will have time to pick up lunch or sit down at a casual eatery at the Historic Sonoma Plaza.

What is the advantage of this combination tour compared to the tours separately?

The Redwoods & Wine Country Tour combines two of California's top attractions. You get the chance to see the Coastal Redwood trees and you will join several wine tastings in both Napa Valley and Sonoma Valley - all in just one day. There is also a huge saving by booking this combination tour rather than booking both trips separately.
