How do I book or make a reservation?
You can book online to receive an online discount, or call our office at 1-866-231-3752 (toll free from the USA) or 1-415-357-0700. We require a valid credit card to hold all phone & internet reservations. Alternatively, you can book a tour with us in person at our office location, provided our office is open.
How do I pay for my tour?
If you are reserving your tour online, your credit card will be charged within 24 hours. We require a valid credit card to hold all phone & internet reservations. Alternatively, you can pay us in person at our office location for any tour, provided our office is open. You can also choose to pay in cash to your driver by calling the office directly and providing a valid debit or credit card number.
What types of payments do you accept?
Credit Cards: We accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express credit cards. We also accept debit cards with symbols of these card companies. Please note that “pre-paid” cards and “travel” cards often are not accepted by our system and it is possible we may ask you to provide an alternate payment method if the initial payment does not go through.
Cash: You can pay cash at our office location for any tour. You can also choose to pay in cash to your driver by calling the office directly and providing a valid debit or credit card number. Please state to your reservation agent that you would not like your card to be charged and that you would like to pay your Expedition Leader in cash on the day of your tour.
Apologies, but we do not provide a travel or personal check payment option, nor can you choose to pay with cash for any online reservations.
Will I get a discount if I book a second tour?
Are there any advantages by booking my tour online?
Can I combine two or more discount codes?
At this time only one discount code can be accepted per reservation. You must choose which one you would like to apply upon making your booking. There is a space for the discount code or “tracking code” on the final page of the booking form.
My discount code isn’t working!
Not every code will be applicable to every single reservation. Please read the terms of the discount code you are attempting to use carefully, and note that some codes provided by third parties may have expired. If the code is valid and has been correctly applied you will see the value reflected on the final checkout page before submitting your reservation.
I’ve already made a reservation but forgot to add the discount code. Can you refund me the discount?
Unfortunately, any discount code you would like to use must be applied at the time of your booking. The code must be redeemed at the time of reservation and cannot be applied after you have made the booking.
Can I cancel or change my reservation?
Airport shuttle transfers, all Bay Cruises & Ferry Tickets, Alcatraz Tours, Seaplane Tours, and any other 3rd party tours are non-transferrable and non-refundable. For Extranomical-operated tours, any cancellations and changes are subject to a 10% or $35 fee, depending on the tour, and must be made 72 hours before tour departure to get a partial refund, or at least 10 days in advance if the reservation includes a hotel accommodation.
Where do I pick up the tickets for my tour?
You do not need to have a physical voucher to board Extranomical-operated tours. Please follow the instructions on your confirmation for any 3rd-party-operated tours such as Bay City Bikes, Blue & Gold Fleet, Airport Express, et al. If you have purchased the Ferry Bay Cruise tickets, your Expedition Leader will give these to you upon boarding your tour.
Please note that Alcatraz Cruises will require that each adult boarding the boat to Alcatraz bring their photo ID or passport for identity verification.
Morning: Alcatraz Tour
Make your way to Pier 33 and board a ferry, and ride across the bay to Alcatraz Island. Your Alcatraz Tour begins after a short walk up a hill and into the prison, were you will receive a headset for an audio presentation which includes 45 minutes of recordings of actual guards and inmates who lived and worked on the Island, this audio presentation is also known as "Doing Time: The Alcatraz Cell house Tour". At the end of the tour, explore Alcatraz Island to your heart's content, just don’t miss the last ferry, you wouldn’t want to be spending the night there!
Afternoon: San Francisco City Tour by Night
Don’t put your pajamas on too soon tonight because all the fun in San Francisco starts after the sun goes down! Whether this is your first visit to San Francisco or you 50th visit, it is time you ventured out at night with the locals and see the beauty of our city in a different light! Our San Francisco City By Night tour lasts 3- 3.5 hours and includes many of San Francisco's most famous and beautiful views...AT NIGHT!
The night tour visits Fisherman’s Wharf, Golden Gate Bridge, Palace of Fine Arts, Haight/ Ashbury District, North Beach, Chinatown, Grace Cathedral, Union Square, Financial District, Civic Center, Castro District, Coit Tower and Twin Peaks (weather permitting).
Availability for Alcatraz can be very limited, especially during the summer months. Your booking request will be processed in the order received. Pier 33-Embarcadero Street. Local public transportation - F Streetcar, BART-Embarcadero station.
The ferry ride from San Francisco to the island takes approximately 10-15 minutes. Once you arrive on the island, a brief presentation of the island's history and guide to touring the prison is given. An audio tour is provided on entrance of the cell house that gives a recorded commentary from former inmates, prison guards and prison wardens. It takes roughly between 2 and 2 1/2 hours to do the full tour and just enough time to grab a souvenir. The ferry leaves roughly every thirty minutes. Learn interesting facts about the island, such as that Alcatraz was not only used as a prison but also as a harbor defense fort during the civil war and before then, was America's first lighthouse on the West Coast.
