Wine Lovers with Alcatraz Tour

The Wine Lovers Wine Country with Alcatraz Tour is a semi-private tour, is a semi private tour to the Wine Country Region, Sonoma and Napa, plus an Alcatraz Tour the following day.

Day 1: Wine Lovers Wine Country Tour
On our Wine Lovers Wine Country Tour you travel in a small group, in a 15 Passenger Van or mini-bus, so you’ll have a little more leg room on your trip to the Wine Country. The great thing about this Wine Country Tour, you tell us were YOU would like to go in the Napa Valley Region, Sonoma Valley Region, or both. Our wonderful guide will spend the first hour discussing the options and taking suggestions whilst on the way to the Wine Country. Usually we tend to visit four to six boutique wineries in one day. On the drive up north, your guide will educate you on the history of California and wine making therein. This trip will provide the opportunity to sample wineries from the Napa region such as Los Carneros, Rutherford, Oakville, St. Helena, Yountville or Stags Leap, and/or the Sonoma Valley region. We’ll also find time to grab a tasty lunch in between your wine tastings, or maybe at one of the wineries! Some wineries offer complimentary tastings, but most charge a fee ranging from $5 to $20, and winery hosted tours usually cost extra.

California has approximately 1400 Wineries and 650 of them are located in San Francisco’s backyard of the Sonoma Valley and Napa Valley counties. First we narrow the list down to those within a reasonable distance, and then we use our years of experience to narrow it down even further so the ones on our list have good wine, are friendly and do a good presentation, and have other amenities, such as nice scenery, interesting history, or other attractions. Here is our list of wineries that we have visit on a regular basis. Keep in mind we won’t visit all of these on a single tour. Do try to keep a clear head for the next day though, because you will be visiting Alcatraz Island!

Day 2: Alcatraz Tour
Alcatraz Island, located in San Francisco has to be one of the most famous landmarks in the world. Journey across the bay, and you Alcatraz Tour begins with a 45 minute audio presentation "Doing Time: The Alcatraz Cell house Tour," featuring recordings of guards and inmates who actually lived and worked on the Island. When your Alcatraz tour is finished then explore Alcatraz Island as long want on your own, but please do remember to get the ferry back to San Francisco in time!

Day 2 - Alcatraz Tour

Open

Pier 33-Embarcadero Street. Local public transportation - F Streetcar, BART-Embarcadero station.

The ferry ride from San Francisco to the island takes approximately 10-15 minutes. Once you arrive on the island, a brief presentation of the island's history and guide to touring the prison is given. An audio tour is provided on entrance of the cell house that gives a recorded commentary from former inmates, prison guards and prison wardens. It takes roughly between 2 and 2 1/2 hours to do the full tour and just enough time to grab a souvenir. The ferry leaves roughly every thirty minutes. Learn interesting facts about the island, such as that Alcatraz was not only used as a prison but also as a harbor defense fort during the civil war and before then, was America's first lighthouse on the West Coast. Experience the beauty, history and infamy of Alcatraz Island on the San Francisco Bay.
