Morning: Alcatraz
Make your way to Pier 33 and board a ferry, and ride across the bay to Alcatraz Island. Your Alcatraz Tour begins after a short walk up a hill and into the prison, were you will receive a headset for a an audio presentation which includes 45 minutes of recordings of actual guards and inmates who lived and worked on the Island, this audio presentation is also known as "Doing Time: The Alcatraz Cell house Tour". Our Muir Woods tours from San Francisco spends 1 hour in Muir Woods giving you ample time to enjoy the beauty of the Sequoia Redwood trees. After the Muir Woods tour, we head to the beautiful San Francisco Bay town of Sausalito. On our Sausalito tours you will have time to enjoy the San Francisco Bay view or visit the shops, Art Galleries and ice creameries of Sausalito. Our Muir Woods and Sausalito tours will then head back to San Francisco, crossing the Golden Gate on the way back to your San Francisco hotel drop off.

Pier 33-Embarcadero Street. Local public transportation - F Streetcar, BART-Embarcadero station. The ferry ride from San Francisco to the island takes approximately 10-15 minutes. Once you arrive on the island, a brief presentation of the island's history and guide to touring the prison is given. An audio tour is provided on entrance of the cell house that gives a recorded commentary from former inmates, prison guards and prison wardens. It takes roughly between 2 and 2 1/2 hours to do the full tour and just enough time to grab a souvenir. The ferry leaves roughly every thirty minutes. Learn interesting facts about the island, such as that Alcatraz was not only used as a prison but also as a harbor defense fort during the civil war and before then, was America's first lighthouse on the West Coast.
