Monterey Two Day Tour
Monterey & Carmel
Day 1 – Coastal Highway from San Francisco to Monterey’s Cannery Row You’ll be welcomed aboard our vehicle at the front door of your San Francisco hotel. Once underway, we journey southward from San Francisco on California Highway 1 where every bend in the road presents picture-perfect Pacific beaches, jagged cliffs and golden hills. Our first destination on the Monterey peninsula is Cannery Row. This former sardine-packing district, first made famous by California author John Steinbeck, is today known for its world-class ocean aquarium, 19th century wharf and a variety of waterfront restaurants, shops, and arcades. You’ll arrive with time to visit Monterey Bay Aquarium, a wildly popular ocean conservation and research facility. If you purchase your tickets through us, you will be able to skip the line and go right to the exhibits! (Go check out our Things To do in Monterey options!) Alternatively, you may use your free time to dive into water sports (kayaking or sailing), visit to the Salvador Dali museum or walk the lively Path of History in Monterey. We’ll make a stunning photo stop at the country’s only “underwater” park, the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. Be ready by mid-day with your camera at your side as we travel to Pacific Grove and then slow the pace on the 17-mile Drive, passing mile after mile of blue ocean and white sandy beaches all the way to Carmel by the Sea. Here you will see the famous golf course of Pebble Beach, seaside mansions, and the Del Monte Forest. We then visit the town of Carmel, where you will have an hour or more to visit this quaint community with fairytale architecture and its upscale shops, wine bars, art galleries, and restaurants. You can stroll down to the white sands of Carmel Beach in about 10 minutes. We’ll have time to take a short excursion to experience the historic Mission San Carlos Borromeo. Day 2 – Sand and Surf Day two has plenty of free time for a stroll on the beach, sightseeing or just relaxing in the California sunshine. We’ll help you choose among several options like whale watching, sailing or wine tasting. Click here to book your activity. Late in the afternoon, sit back and relax as we start our journey back to your San Francisco hotel. Inclusions:
