Alternatively, if your tour is on a luxury vehicle be on the look out for an all black vehicle that says Extranomical in white on the side.

Please note that for your child's safety, we require you to bring a child safety seat or booster seat for all children under 8 years of age or 4' 9" in height, as dictated by California State Law. You will be required to bring your own child seat on all motor vehicle tours. Failure to provide a seat for your child will result in forfeit of your seats on the tour without a refund.

Customers are allowed up to 2 items (ie. 1 Personal item + 1 Overnight bag) to travel free of charge. These items must be within the size limitations. San Francisco Parks & Coast – Summer of Love Edition

Get your groove on for the Summer of Love! This tour of San Francisco attractions takes you on a magic carpet ride through the places that sparked a cultural revolution.

Your tour guide is a total “city insider.” So, you’ll explore the San Francisco of 1967—and right now. Visit the historic Presidio. See the amazing coastline of the “city by the bay”. Check out the Mission and Castro districts. You’ll visit Golden Gate Park—the most happening place in 1967. Send friends pics of the Jimi Hendrix Red House—and the legendary pad of The Grateful Dead. Groovy, baby!

You’ll see the sights. You’ll hear tales that made this the story of an American decade. You’ll be amazed by what you learn about these San Francisco attractions. Some on the tour may have been part of the movement. Just ask them!

Extranomical has made special arrangements to make this limited-time-only tour a celebration. You’ll enjoy what we think is the best view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Sample Golden Gate Park’s many museums, gardens and lakes.

The tour runs 2½ to 3 hours. Departs twice a day. And get this: It’s a “companion” San Francisco tour to Extranomical’s Treasures tour. So there’s no overlap: it’s all different. Do them both and see all of the San Francisco’s attraction!

San Francisco Parks & Coast - Times Approximate

This tour departs at 10:40 AM and 4:40 PM daily.

Note that traffic in San Francisco can be tricky. But don’t worry: We’ll tweak the itinerary as needed to give you the best possible tour.

First hour:

  • We all meet up in front of the Zephyr Hotel in Fisherman’s Wharf. This place is surrounded by great shops, so come early and load up on snacks and coffee (yum).
  • As you settle into your seat, ask the other guests where they were (or where their parents were!) back in the summer of ’67. The answers may surprise you!
  • The view of San Francisco’s waterfront from the Crissy Field Overlook will take you breath away. And that’s while you’re heading into the old Presidio military base—which is now a city park. It’s gorgeous. You’ll love it!
  • Prepare yourself. As we venture into the Presidio, a long-time military base, you’ll come upon the most amazing view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Visitors love this stop at Godfrey Battery for its World War I-era fortifications and the shots they get of San Francisco’s most famous landmark.
  • Check the level on your camera’s battery. There’s still a lot to see!

Second hour:

  • Enter Golden Gate Park from the coastal side—cool! Here, you’ll see the Bison Paddock. Enormous Dutch windmills! And Spreckels Lake. Beautiful!
  • Spend 20 minutes here in the park sampling the M.H. de Young Museum. California Academy of Sciences. Botanical Gardens. Japanese Tea Gardens. Stow Lake. So much to do you may need to make a plan to come back for longer!
  • Put some flowers in your hair as we explore Haight-Ashbury—epicenter for the Summer of Love. See the Grateful Dead House, Jimi Hendrix Red House and Victorian homes that survived the fire of 1906. Get your groove on!

Last 30 minutes:

  • You’re not done. The last leg of the tour passes straight through the storied Castro and Mission districts. See the Mission San Francisco; it was founded in 1776. Then roll by public murals—some old, some still fresh!
  • Catch views of awesome public buildings: SF City Hall. War Memorial Opera House. The Asian Art Museum. The Pioneer Monument. Take more pics!
  • As the tour wraps up, your amazing guide will give you info about other Summer of Love events happening in the city—there are tons! When you get back to the Zephyr Hotel, you’ll part ways with your new friends. Or (better yet) stay on board for even more fun: Extranomical’s San Francisco Treasures tour.
