Segway Tour of Sausalito Description

Located on the far side of the Golden Gate Bridge, just opposite San Francisco, is the picturesque bayside town of Sausalito. Famous for its houseboat communities and for inspiring the Otis Redding classic, 'sitting on the dock of the bay', this quaint waterfront town is the perfect location for taking a scenic Segway tour. Many of Sausalito's most famous sights such as its famous wooden boats and houseboat communities are not accessible by tour bus so Segways are the best way to get around.

Our Segway Tour Sausalito begins with a 40 - 45 minute training session to instruct guests on how to operate a Segway. Segways are not difficult to maneuver, however, like learning to ride a bike, some instruction in the beginning is necessary. Our brand newfleet of Segway i2’s represents the forefront in Segway design and include lean-steer technology. Segways are fun and easy to use but best of all - they are environmentally friendly too!

Once our training session is completed, we will begin the tour by exploring the charming village of Sausalito, complete with beautiful galleries, boutique shops and gourmet waterfront restaurants. Following a easy cruise around the village of Sausalito, the tour will then continue along the bay trail to explore more of Sausalito's charms. Once outside the village, guests will be amazed by the stunning views Sausalito has to offer. The legendary wooden boats and the famous houseboat communities give Sausalito a unique old-world feel and lend to the Mediterranean ambiance created by the town's cliff-hanging cottages. The tour will take guests to popular Sausalito landmarks such as Cass Marina and Galilee Harbour with your tour guide noting the points of interest and providing detailed information about the town. Along the tour we will make frequent stops for refreshments and to take photos. Before we return to our starting location the tour will also pass Dunphy Park and famous recording studios, as well as the Bay Model which is a scale model of the entire bay, complete with changing tides.

Once the Segway Tour Sausalito is completed, guests are encouraged to spend a little time in Sausalito to enjoy the numerous distinctive dining and shopping options available. Tours depart from the rear parking lot at 1000 Bridgeway at Caledonia Street in Sausalito. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your departure time.

Duration: 2 Hrs, 45 mins (including 40-45 minute training)

Allow approximately 2 hours 45 minutes for the tour. Before we set off, guests will need a 40-45 minute training session to learn to operate the Segway. Once training is completed, the tour will begin to explore the Sausalito waterfront. The tour will take the Bay Trail and visit the Houseboat Communities of Sausalito, Dunphy Park, Galilee Harbor and the Bay Model before returning to our departure point.

Vehicle Safety Inspection: Safety is paramount in our industry and one of the biggest safety components in the tours we provide are our vehicles. Extranomical's fleet includes vans and mini-buses. Our vehicles are inspected constantly; first in the morning when the tour guide begins his/her day; second throughout the day the tour guide is verifying fluid levels, tire pressure and the general operation of the vehicle is monitored throughout the day. The vehicles are also inspected regularly (at least every 10,000) miles by our vehicle maintenance staff and also by independent certified mechanics during their routine maintenance. If that were not all, we also go through a thorough inspection performed by the California Highway Patrol once a year.
Tour Guide Training & Substance Abuse Testing: Our tour guides are extensively trained on both safety driving techniques and on providing an informative and interesting tour. Before being hired, we test our guides on safety driving in realistic situations around San Francisco they are also tested through an oral presentation of the material they will present to make sure that they provide a safe, knowledgeable and interesting tour.
