Segway Tour of San Francisco - Advanced Description

Explore the famous hills of San Francisco and drive down the world famous 'crooked street' on this unique Segway Tour Advanced. For those of you who have already ridden a Segway and feel confident in your Segway maneuvering skills, join us on this guided tour and take Segway riding to the next level of excitement.

On our Segway Tour Advanced, we will cover more ground, so that guests will get the opportunity to see more of San Francisco, whilst also improving their Segway driving abilities by taking the machine down steep hills and through more difficult routes. All of our Segway tours are taken on our brand new Segway i2's which incorporate lean-steer capabilities and represent the forefront of Segway technology. Best of all, Seways are 100% environmentally friendly! The Segway Tour Advanced will begin with a quick 20 - 25 minute refresher session, designed to re-familiarize guests with the Segways. Once everyone has completed the short reminder course, we set off to tackle the huge hills of San Francisco!

We'll start off easy in Fisherman's Wharf, cruising around the Municipal Pier and Aquatic Park to take in the awesome views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. Then we step things up a notch by climbing the slopes in the direction of Russian Hill. Enjoy the views from this fantastic vantage point before we make our way across to one of San Francisco's most famous landmarks, the famous 'crooked street'. Be a part of one of the only guided tours that are allowed to drive down the world famous Lombard Street. Once at the base of the 'crookedest street' the tour will cruise through North Beach and Telegraph Hill, with your guide pointing out some of the more interesting spots of San Francisco's 'Little Italy'.

Finally we will return to The Wharf, making time to visit the sea lions at Pier 39 and glide past the historic fishing fleet before returning to our starting location. Tours depart from the parking lot at the rear of 757 Beach Street. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to departure time.

Duration: 2.5 - 3 Hrs (including 20-25 mins advanced training/refresher course)

Allow approximately 2.5 - 3 hours for the tour. Before we set off, guests will need a 20-25 minute training/refresher course so that they can learn/relearn the skills required. Once training is completed the tour will begin by cruising around Aquatic Park and the Municipal Pier. The tour will then climb the slopes of Russian Hill before heading to Lombard's famous Crooked Street. We continue around North Beach and over to Pier 39 before returning to the departure point.

Vehicle Safety Inspection: Safety is paramount in our industry and one of the biggest safety components in the tours we provide are our vehicles. Extranomical's fleet includes vans and mini-buses. Our vehicles are inspected constantly; first in the morning when the tour guide begins his/her day; second throughout the day the tour guide is verifying fluid levels, tire pressure and the general operation of the vehicle is monitored throughout the day. The vehicles are also inspected regularly (at least every 10,000) miles by our vehicle maintenance staff and also by independent certified mechanics during their routine maintenance. If that were not all, we also go through a thorough inspection performed by the California Highway Patrol once a year.
Tour Guide Training & Substance Abuse Testing: Our tour guides are extensively trained on both safety driving techniques and on providing an informative and interesting tour. Before being hired, we test our guides on safety driving in realistic situations around San Francisco they are also tested through an oral presentation of the material they will present to make sure that they provide a safe, knowledgeable and interesting tour.
