Yosemite National Park is a great place to celebrate Independence Day and this year the park visitor population is estimated to be near maximum capacity as park tourists flock to Yosemite during the holiday weekend. The Fourth of July weekend is generally one of the busiest times of the year for Yosemite and visitors should be prepared for traffic congestion traveling into and out of the park.
Although all campsites on the reservation system are full there are still a limited number of first come first serve sites available throughout the park and along Tioga Road. The Tuolumne Meadows Campground, Yosemite Creek Campground, and Tamarack Flat Campground will be open for the busy weekend. Although Independence Day is usually celebrated with fireworks park visitors are reminded that possession and discharge of any type of fireworks is prohibited in Yosemite National Park.
