San Francisco In Running To Host Next America’s Cup

San Francisco is the only American city in the pool of five cities chosen as possible locations for the prestigious America’s Cup Race to be held in 2013 or 2014. Billionaire Larry Ellison’s BMW Oracle Racing Team, the current champions, set the rules and decide the future venue.

A national effort will soon be underway to gain state and federal support for a city campaign to fund the upgrades needed to host the America’s Cup. Although many cities are interested in the chance to host the race Ellison, his winning team and the city of San Francisco are determined to hold the sailing competition in California. The decision is set to be publicly announced by the end of the year.
