Levi’s Opens Printing Studio in San Francisco

Jul
09 2010

San Francisco’s historic Levi’s denim company has opened a temporary 8 week printing studio in the Mission District of the city. The studio, which opened July 8th 2010, will feature workshops taught by guest artists such as Shepard Fairey, a street artist famous for his iconic image of President Obama, Dave Eggers, writer and education activist and Alice Waters, famous cookbook author. The goal of the Levi’s printing studio is to teach the public the techniques behind printing using original vintage equipment.

Some of the artists will teach workshops, which are available through pre-registration on the website, as well as produce a product which will be sold in the studio.  All proceeds of the products sold will go to three San Francisco nonprofits: The Women’s Building, Southern Exposure and Plaza Adelante. The Levi’s Studio is located at 580-582 Valencia St., San Francisco. Hours of operation are 12:00 am - 5:00 pm Tuesday, 12:00 am - 7:00 pm Wednesday thru Friday and 11:00 am - 8:00 pm Saturday and Sunday through August 31st, 2010. On Free Sundays, all equipment is available to the public by sign up. For more information and workshop registration please visit workshops.levi.com.
