Marketing & Sales Trainee/Internship

Extranomical Tours is offering a trainee/internship position in the field of Marketing & Sales.  We are a San Francisco tour operator looking for someone that wants to become an active member of our Marketing & Sales team and also provides administrative support to the office if needed.  Our Marketing & Sales Department promotes our business and keeps close relations with current sales agents.  It also focuses on constantly creating new business contacts and finding ways to market our company and tour products as well as to improve these.  

This trainee/internship provides a good mix of in-office and on the job training. Candidates will be expected to work 40 hours per week. We encourage international applicants who are qualified for J1 internships.  Candidates must display a high level of personal responsibility and must be able to work both in a team environment and independently.  The successful trainee/internship candidate will think “outside the box” and be a creative problem solver.  Fluency in English is required.  Candidates with foreign language fluency are highly regarded.

Customer Service/Sales Representative for Tour Company

Part-Time Sales Representative 
Sales Agent duties include but are not limited to:

  • Seek tour sales by actively approaching prospective customers outside our tour office.
  • Make outbound phone calls to customers who have inquired about our tours.
  • Provide superior customer service and product knowledge. 

Full-Time Customer Service/Sales Representative 
Reservations duties include but are not limited to:

  • Correctly answer phone calls, emails and in-person questions from customers concerning our tours and services.
  • Book, process and confirm phone and internet reservations and counter sales.
  • Process customer payments.
  • Monitor daily tour pickups, and trouble shoot any pick up problems.
  • Create and monitor driver pick-up lists.

Administrative Support:

  • As part of the reservations team, you also need to take on some administrative duties - the bulk of admin assistance will include, and of course, is not limited to: filing, errands, phone call screening, internet research, message follow up.
  • You also need to coordinate and assist with various projects. We are looking for a “can do” person who has great problem solving skills. We want to be able to hand you a project and know that you can and will get it done. 

Skills required:

  • Advanced Microsoft Office – Word and Excel a must!
  • At least 2 years customer service or sales and admin experience.
  • Inbound and outbound phone sales experience – Must be confident.
  • Advanced email and Internet skills.
  • A born “organizer.”
  • Detail orientated.
  • Be a problem solver, think out side the box, and can think quickly under pressure.
  • Must be able to multi task & work well in a fast-paced office environment.
  • A pleasant happy personality with a positive attitude (very important!). 

Our company operates 7 days a week, 5:30am to 10pm. Thus we need a candidate that is flexible with hours and aware of the fact that working at a tour company means to occasionally work overtime, public holidays and weekends. Tour Guide

Description: Do you enjoy hosting visitors to San Francisco and showing them around town? Are you fascinated by history, geography and/or geology? Do you enjoy travel & meeting people from all walks of life? If you answered yes to all or most of these questions you might just make a perfect Tour Driver/Guide. We are currently looking to hire motivated, knowledgeable Tour Leaders for part-time and full-time positions. Tour Leaders will drive a 15-passenger van (or mini-bus) and provide informative friendly commentary.

Qualifications:

  • A Commercial Driver’s License (Class: B with passenger endorsement). Training is available to highly motivated candidates, but please be aware that it takes four to six weeks to get an appointment for a practical commercial test from the DMV.
  • Clean driving record (no moving violations or accidents on your record).
  • Must be comfortable talking in front of people and leading a group.
  • Must be able to change a tire (15 Passenger Van or mini-bus tires are heavy).
  • Must be drug tested (state law requirement)
  • Tour guide experience, travel, tourism, hospitality or recreational studies and/or a foreign language are positively viewed Must be VERY reliable, enthusiastic, personable, social, a team player, enjoy talking, friendly, flexible with hours and, did I mention, reliable!
  • Must be at least 25 years old (for insurance purposes) and able to work in the United States legally.
Must be willing and able to work long hours and weekends!
