Wine Lover’s Tour from San Jose Description

The beautiful vineyard landsape in wine country

Wine Lovers Wine Country Tour. You don’t have to be on your honeymoon to go on this tour, but it can’t hurt to take your special someone on this tour through America’s best known wine producing region. The Wine Lovers Wine Country Tour is a semi-private tour, which means you’ll be traveling in a smaller group, so you’ll have a little more room in the vehicle and a little more freedom in choosing where to go. The tour might be all Napa Valley, or all Sonoma Valley, or some of both. (FIY - Napa is a little further away so going there means a little more driving, and a little less tasting, nibbling, and picture-taking time than staying in Sonoma for the day.  Not saying it’s a bad thing – I’m just sayin’.) Your guide will spend some time in the first hour discussing the options and taking suggestions. The group can decide to go to both Sonoma and Napa Valley, or concentrate on just one “neighborhood”. This usually means visiting from four to six boutique wineries in one day. On the rest of the drive north, your guide will fill you in on the colorful history of California and wine making therein, and the short drives between wineries afford time to talk about the science and art of wine making, and wine tasting, and other fascinating topics.

This trip will provide the opportunity to sample wineries from various Napa regions such as Los Carneros, Rutherford, Oakville, St. Helena, Yountville or Stags Leap, and/or the Sonoma Valley region. And we’ll find time to grab a tasty lunch in between the tastings, or maybe at one of the wineries! Some wineries offer complimentary tastings, but most charge a fee ranging from $5 to $10 (or it could be more - just sayin’), and winery hosted tours usually cost extra. But that is up to the group - we can adjust the route, within reason, and we’ll do our best to make it a treat for everyone. Your guide will use experience and knowledge to help the group decide where to go within the southern portions of both famous valleys, give hints about where the best deals are if you want to buy or ship home, and make suggestions to maximize the visual attraction, while minimizing the tasting fees and the driving time. Just come prepared to have fun with people from around the world and the U.S. in America’s Wine Country!

Sonoma and Napa Winery Tour Stops. California has approximately 1400 Wineries  and 650 of them are located in our backyard of Sonoma and Napa counties.  First we narrow the list down to those within a reasonable distance, and then we used our years of experience to whittle it down further so the ones on our list  have good wine, are friendly and do a good presentation, and have other amenities, such as nice scenery, interesting history, or other attractions. Our list of wineries might change slightly from time to time, as we discover new gems, or someone’s staff or business policy changes.  At this time, here is our list of wineries that we have visited on a regular basis. Keep in mind we won’t visit all of these on a single tour. This is just to give you an idea where we MIGHT end up when you travel with us. These are our “friends”, so to speak.
