Yosemite National Park News

El Portal Road is still under maintenance. The contractor has informed us that they plan on working Saturday 12/15 and 12/22 from approximately 6:30am until 6:00pm that will cause up to 30 minutes delay. On Monday through Thursday 10:00pm to 6:00am traffic will be limited to one lane. On Friday 4:30 pm through Monday 6:00am it will also be only one lane will be opened.

Wawona Road (Highway 41 from Fresno) is currently open. However on December 19th during the night and into early morning the Wawona Tunnel will have a scheduled cleaning and only one lane will be open. Big Oak Flat Road (Highway 120 from Manteca) will not have repairs started on until January 2008. So the road is now open except for west of Yosemite Valley 10pm to 6am on Sunday nights through Thursday nights. 30-minute delays are expected during daytime.

Yosemite National Park has already announced that Tioga Road, Mariposa Grove Road and Glacier Point / Badger Pass Road are now closed for the winter season. This is due to heavy snow and ice that makes it impossible driving around this time every year until spring.

Glacier Rd from Badger to Glacier Point is closed. The road from Chinquapin to Badger Pass Ski Area is opened for administrative use only. The Tioga and Glacier Point Roads usually reopen in late May or June. It depends on conditions.

If you need more information, please call National Parks Service at 209-372-0200 for the most up-to-date road and weather conditions. Furthermore, you can check trail conditions by calling the Valley Visitor Center at 209-372-0299 or stopping by the center located in Yosemite Village.
