The Yosemite National Park is about as romantic a place that anyone could hope to find, with its dramatic, breath-taking vistas and peaceful atmosphere. But officials at Yosemite have taken the already romantic setting and compiled a list of the suggested best ways to for couples to enjoy the park over the Saint Valentine’s Day weekend for those who might need a little guidance when it comes to romance:
- stay at Curry Village’s tent cabins where you’ll need to do more than rub noses to keep warm as the you must provide your own heat in these minimalist cabins
- have your wedding vows renewed at the quaint, postcard perfect Yosemite Valley Chapel with its dramatic backdrop of Yosemite Falls, Half Dome, El Capitan, Brideveil Falls, and Glacier Point
- play in the snow: snowshoe, snowboard, cross-country, or downhill ski, all of which can be done from Yosemite’s Badger Pass
- go ice skating under the moon and under the dramatic granite rock faces high above and warm up by the rink’s bonfire with hot chocolate
- sit by the outdoor fire at Mountain Room Lounge and roast s’mores
- cross-country to Glacier Point where there is a timber and stone lodge at 7,500 feet with amazing views of the Yosemite Valley.
- ask the big question at the casual Mountain Room restaurant, or the more elegant Ahwahnee Dining Room
While there is plenty to do and see at Yosemite National Park with all of its sightseeing attractions, no matter what you do on Valentine’s Day with your date, there is probably no better backdrop in the United States to enjoy the company of your lover and just “be” together than amongst the majestic scenery surrounding the Yosemite Valley.
