Unique Art Opening in Yosemite National Park

Jul
22 2009

Yosemite National Park is hosting a very unique art gallery show through November 8th, 2009. The national park's gallery will show works by artists who are current participants in Yosemite's artists-in-residence program. The Yosemite Museum Gallery show will open June 20th, 2009 and will feature works by seven artists working in multiple mediums.

The artist-in-residence program was established over 20 years ago and invites professional artists to live in the park for one month out of the year. The artists creations are unique visual testaments to their experience living in Yosemite. The artists are encouraged to immerse themselves in the natural expanse of the park in order to create work as true to their experience as possible.

The artistic representations shown in the Yosemite Museum Gallery have been created by John Barnett, Jane Culp, Tom Killion, Bruce Klein, Hearne Pardee, Bonnie Peterson and Gina Werfel. The artwork on display ranges from prints, paintings, drawings and fabric art. The Yosemite Museum Gallery is located just west of the visitor center and all Yosemite tourists are encouraged to view the works of all the current artists on display.
