Yosemite National Park is announcing that it has no more accommodations vacancies at the Curry Village location or the Yosemite Lodge as the properties are now booked through the summer. While anyone who has ever embarked on a Yosemite tour might leap to the conclusion that one of America's most amazing naturally spectacular locales would likely become booked well in advance, the reality has more to do with the ever dwindling list of accommodations as multiple hundreds of cabin closings have occurred over the years and no replacements have been forthcoming. Only the Ahwahnee Hotel has a few opening left through this summer.
To address the overcapacity the park has embarked on an outreach campaign to many guests who found themselves double booked due to cabin closings last October resulting from a rock slide in Curry Village. The park hopes to keep those guests within the park by shifting dates, offering alternative accommodation locations, and possibly opening over a hundred more cabins for public use which are currently used by park employees. As a last resort the vendor for the park will work with guests to find alternative accommodations just outside of Yosemite at private hotels. It is suggested that anyone planning to head to the park between now and the end of the summer should reach out to check on their reservations as soon as possible, but at the minimum, ten days before any scheduled trip so that full refunds will be available if necessary.
