Celebrate National Park Week at Yosemite

Yosemite National Park will offer park tourists free gate fees during National Park Week celebrated April 17th through 25th, 2010. National Park Week is a nationwide celebration of the 392 national parks throughout the United States. Usually 146 parks offer free gate fees during this yearly event, but this year all 392 parks will waive their admission fees as the economic downturn continues its slow turn around. Many people will stay in their local area this summer, during the peak of tourist season for many businesses and National Parks such as Yosemite are a great affordable family vacation.

Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar responded to the fee waiver by saying "Parks are fun and affordable destinations and great places to engage in healthy, outdoor activities, whether for a few hours or a few days.” Yosemite National Park will also offer additional family friendly activities and special prices on tours, lodging, food and souvenirs. There will also be several other celebrations taking place in some National Parks during National Park Week such as Earth Day Festivals. The fee waiver does not include camping, reservation and use of concession costs.
