Near the Hetch Hetchy Valley in Yosemite, the 1920's era Evergreen Lodge is set to open twenty-four new cabins to its guests in May. This will be the last set of new cabins to open to the public. This is the final step in the reconstruction project and will include 90 cabins, an outdoor dining area and plaza with a beer garden, restored tavern, outdoor event area, spa cabana, and a new games and entertainment hall. There is also a new children's play area which includes fifteen native Miwok bark teepees that stand twelve feet tall. The lodge offers many tourists exciting trips for along the lesser known west side of Yosemite near Wampa Falls and North Dome.
The twenty-four cabins are divided into two villages which are located in an old growth forest and feature views of the woods and nearby meadows of Yosemite Valley. The designer, Charles le Disle is a well known San Francisco designer and has added his personal touch to the new expansion project. Le Disle has designed everything from the 3,000 square foot deck to the new throw pillows in the existing cabins. The final twenty-four cabins to open include ten two bedroom units and fourteen single units and range from $99 to $299 a night depending on the season.
