The beginning of wine country's cycling season brings 2,500 cyclists from across the globe to both Sonoma and Marin counties for the summer cycling season. It's estimated that over 10,000 cyclists will take part in the 4 month season participating in group rides and races throughout the region. The 2008 wine country tourism report noted that adventure/recreation, which included cycling, was the number one interest among wine country tourists. Along with the ever changing scenery of this region, one of many cyclists favorite part of riding here, are the many cycling events and routes available to enthusiastic cyclists.
Most cyclists who return year after year to wine country enjoy the diverse landscape within the region. Within a few miles of wine country a cyclist can ride along vineyards, redwoods, grazing lands and coastal hills. Unlike many long distance rides the landscape in this area is never stagnant which draws more and more cyclists in every year. Some of the most popular events held in Sonoma and Marin counties are the Wine Country Century, Tour d'Organics and the Healdsburg Harvest Century ride.
