Located 55 miles north of San Francisco, in Sonoma County, is a convergence of wilderness, farm land and wine country. Santa Rosa is a quaint town thriving with avid wine lovers, epecureans and outdoor enthusiasts. A comprehensive tour of wine country must include one of Santa Rosa's famous walking tours. There are many tours to choose from and every tourist is bound to find something intriguing while on one of these guided walks.
Walk About Santa Rosa offers a walking tour of many different town neighborhoods. A few of the most popular areas are the A Street arts area, the West End and the Price Memorial Greenway. During spring there are several rose garden walking tours through town including the Sutter Medical rose garden, Burbank Gardens and Roseland Gardens. These walks take place bimonthly and are sponsored by the city. The first guided walk will take place June 6th and more information can be found at srcity.org.
There are also several historical cemetary tours where tourists are guided through Santa Rosa's historic cemetary. These tours are scheduled for June 6th and August 1st. The history tours are part of a new project of Health Action, a combined effort by community organizers and leaders targeted at improving health and health care. Health Action has created a walking project called iWalk Sonoma dedicated to the idea of walking as an easy, low-impact and no-cost form of exercise.
