The Town of Napa Finally Breaks Bud

Feb
03 2009

Chances are good that when you’re on a wine country tour (/HTML_PAGES/WINE_TRIP.htm) or even banging around on your own, you will be sticking to the main road that cuts through the Napa Valley wine country (/HTML_PAGES/WINE_COUNTRY_ATTRACTIONS.htm) and will never encounter the town of Napa (link). In fact that has been a decades-long issue for the town of Napa where it has failed to expand and prosper in step with the overall success of Napa Valley (link)and the 350 wineries (/HTML_PAGES/WINERIES.htm) there. The town sits at the southern end of the Napa Valley (link) but unless one knows where it is and diverts himself with intention, the main roads that will involve all of those many tourists in their cars and those on their wine country tours (/HTML_PAGES/WINE_TRIP.htm), will never even see the town, let alone experience it. But slowly Napa has begun to find its way and become relevant to the rest of the Napa Valley (link) for both the locals and the tourists. While the ambitious COPIA had been located there and set lofty goals surrounding food, wine and culture, its recent failure due to insurmountable debts does seem to have been something of a lasting catalyst for the town. Its high profile likely played a large part in the decisions of the fine food establishments’ owners deciding to settle in nearby with places like Ubuntu and La Toque. What’s more encouraging for the town’s progress is the arrival of the Westin Hotel, Verasa which chose the heart of the town of Napa (link) to serve the Napa Valley (link). Others seem to be following too, with the Ritz-Carlton to follow with their own town location currently in the works. Before long the town of Napa might even move from getting a mere mention on wine country tours (/HTML_PAGES/WINE_TRIP.htm), to actually becoming part of that wine country tour (/HTML_PAGES/WINE_TRIP.htm) at some point in the not-too-distant future.
