Napa Valley’s professional trade organization, The Napa Valley Vintners is planning its annual auction fundraiser. Representing roughly three hundred and fifty wineries, the NVV’s purpose is for the promotion and protection of the Napa Valley appellation, its products, and its workers. The NVV is hosting the auction event for the twenty-ninth year, and this year more than ever is in need of support funds to provide affordable housing for the field workers, offer the families youth services, and healthcare.
While the end results are taken seriously, and the NVV has amassed $85 million toward its programs over the years, the event to raise money is focused on fun and plans parties scattered throughout the Napa Valley at various wineries, with fourteen vintners hosting events on Thursday evening of the auction weekend. Many attendees hire shuttle services from wine country tour companies to ferry them around in the hope of making it to all of the parties being hosted. On Friday evening, there is a tasting festival featuring over one hundred wineries from the area, with food from sixty area restaurants catering the event which is to be held at the Mondavi winery.
