The Vintners Group, through their Carneros Vintners division, is preparing to launch one of the largest production facilities in Sonoma County, and expects to have the facility fully operational for the local wineries by this year’s fall harvest. The firm, established in 1991, has vineyards and crushing facilities in the San Joaquin Valley, Sonoma Valley, and Napa Valley.
The new crushing facility in Sonoma Valley will begin operating at a one million gallon capacity, with plans to quickly expand the facility to manage three times that in the near future. The facility will be state-of-the-art, and will accommodate various sized productions by using numerous tank sizes, two crusher sizes, and three different bladder press sizes.
The Sonoma Valley facility will also have a temperature controlled fifty-two thousand square foot warehouse storage facility for wine storage and will offer a high-speed bottling plant. A spokesman for the company said that the economic downturn and the wine business slowdown is exactly what made the new Sonoma crush facility timely, given the reduced cost of the land as well as the reduction in current construction costs.
