Sonoma County is known for its plethora of popular summer festivals and the Healdsburg Jazz Festival is well known throughout the nation as one of the finest small music festivals in the country. The Healdsburg Jazz Festival hosts a diverse lineup of internationally acclaimed and locally prominent musicians every summer, holding performances in hotel lobbies, restaurants, small theatres and vineyard grounds. This year's festival will be held June 4th through 13th and include jazz related activities held at different venues as well as musical performances. The Healdsburg Jazz Festival is one of wine country's most anticipated summer events.
The Healdsburg Jazz Festival lineup for the 2010 season includes three of jazz's most creative young leaders: pianist Jason Moran, vocalist Gretchen Parlato, and drummer Dafnis Prieto, as well as bassist Esperanza Spalding. All of these young musicians are part of the new modern jazz movement and are highly anticipated by jazz enthusiasts. The Healdsburg Jazz Festival also presents veterans, including bassist Charlie Haden, pianists Geri Allen and George Cables, guitarist Bill Frisell, and saxophonist Ravi Coltrane. Along with modern and traditional jazz other activities include bosa nova and samba performances, a night of Jazz Night at the Movies, afternoon wine and jazz pairing at tasting rooms on the town square, a free concert in the Plaza with the Latin Jazz Youth Ensemble and the exciting evening sessions in the Hotel Healdsburg lobby.
