Sonoma County Balloon Classic Cancelled This Year

The long running Sonoma County Balloon Classic has been postponed this year after a 20 year event history. The event is usually schedule for June, but this year Keiser Park, the starting ground for the balloon launch, is undergoing a renovation. The park, located in Windsor, has been under renovation since last summer and is not expected to be completed in time for the June launch date. Although this news is sure to disappoint many wine country tourists who schedule their trip according to the balloon festival dates, this is not an unusual year since the event has been postponed or cancelled in the past due to fog and wind.

The non-profit board that organizes the Sonoma County Balloon Classic every year has stated that "the event will come back in 2011 and be bigger and better than ever." Although many event enthusiasts would like to see the launch site moved to another location this year, the cost and effort to do such a task would be prohibitive. The festival usually draws a crowd of over 4,000 spectators during the two day event and many wine country tourists return to Sonoma County each June to take part in the festivities.

Airport shuttle transfers and Alcatraz Tours are non-refundable. Cancellations and changes are subject to a 10% or $25 fee, whichever is greater. As a courtesy to your fellow passengers, it’s important to be on time. If you are late or miss your scheduled pickup time for the tour please contact our office immediately at 415-357-0700. An alternative pick up location may be arranged at customer expense, subject to availability. Any guest who misses their tour entirely will forfeit their seat on the tour. No refunds will be issued.
