Solar Wineries Celebrate Summer Solstice

Jun
10 2009

A unique event will take place this month in celebration of the longest day of the year.  The summer solstice will be celebrated in Napa Valley by ten wineries leading the trend in solar energy and sustainable farming practices in the wine industry.  This will be the second annual Solarbration wine tasting to support the Land Trust of Napa County.  The celebration will take place at Napa Valley's original green luxury resort, Bardessono.

Attendees will partake in exclusive wine tastings, musical entertainment and gourmet cuisine from Bardessono's sustainable kitchen.  There will also be plenty of opportunities to learn about solar energy and sustainable growing practices from the ten featured wineries.  The Land Trust of Napa County will also be present to answer questions about their work.

A few of the wineries hosting the Solarbration are Flora Springs Winery and Vineyards, Silverado Vineyards and Trefethen Family Vineyards.  The Northern California Solar Energy Association Recognizes Napa County as one of the leading Bay Area counties utilizing solar power.  Within the county there are more than 40 Napa County wineriesutilizing solar energy and sparing the emission of more than 28,767,600 pounds of CO2 over the next 30 years.  For tourists who are interested in learning more about the sustainable wine culture, this is definitely an event worth attending.  The Solarbration will be held on June 20 from 6:00-9:00 pm at Bardessono in Napa Valley.
