Napa Valley is holding its annual mustard festival beginning at the end of January. The Napa Valley Mustard Festival, now in its sixteenth year, does not require marking your calendar to remember the date. When the bright yellow mustard blooms come to life and fill the fields in Napa County, that when you know it’s festival time.
Held just outside of San Francisco, about an hour’s drive beyond the Golden Gate Bridge in Napa County’s wine country region of Napa Valley, the festival takes place from January 31st through March 28th 2009. The festival celebrates the great food culture and offerings fromNapa Valley, with an obvious focus on the benefits of mustard in culinary delights and events will include cooking demonstrations, mustard competitions, mustard recipe competitions, tastings, gourmet dinners, and art shows.
The first event takes place at the Culinary Institute of America at the north end ofNapa Valley in Saint Helena. The evening, known as Mustard Magic, will have a silent auction, a cooking demonstration, visual art display, and performance art intended to bring famous European artworks to life.
