One Napa Valley resort isn’t waiting around for economic good times before they offer a high-end weekend package designed for couples. If you have spent any time on California wine country tours, you can’t help but feel that the recession has begun to trickle into the Sonoma Valley and Napa Valley. Even though it’s officially the off-season for the wineries, the wine country tasting rooms seem quieter than ever before. But that isn’t deterring the Meadowood Napa Valley Resort from offering its $3,800 couple’s weekend focused on etiquette. No matter what the economy is doing, etiquette is always in fashion and this event is evidence of that.
The International Dining and Wine Etiquette Weekend at the Meadowood Napa Valley Resort, from Friday cocktail hour, through Sunday brunch, will be focused on the art of cultural awareness and social graces relating to food, wine, and international travel. The instructors for the weekend will be the finishing school founder and etiquette instructor, Deborah King, and master sommelier Gilles de Chambure. The weekend will launch Friday evening with a Champagne cocktail hour and etiquette instruction followed by dinner. Saturday will be wine instruction and then lunch at a winery with a formal dinner back at the resort which will highlight table manners from around the world as well as how the bill is handled in various countries. Sunday brunch will then be held with the instructors mingling through the tables to answer specific questions about any particular upcoming international food, wine and travel etiquette concerns. Emily Post would approve.
