Many wineries in Napa and Sonoma host guest artists and allow visitors to view their world famous collections, but not many use use commissioned artwork for their wine bottle labels. Imagery Estate Winery is a unique family owned operation combining unusual varietals and blends with one of a kind artwork to create something visually appealing and tastefully surprising. This unconventional winery is fun and innovative and something wine country has never experienced before.
The idea for these unusual wines started with the passion to showcase some of the special varietals without blending them with overpowering conventional fruit. A series of small artisan wines was made and bottled with the intention to turn the line into something creative and unique. Enter the artist. Local artist Bob Nugent ran into Joe Benziger while golfing and a conversation commenced that involved Joe's limited-production varietals and Bob's artistic experience. After their conversation it was decided that Bob Nugnet would create the first one of a kind piece for the very first bottling label. Now, 20 years later, Nungent is head curator of the artist program and organizes the commissioning of artists world wide. All original art work can be viewed in the winery gallery.
Any wine country tourist or enthusiast will agree that Imagery Estate Winery bottles some of the most unusual wines in Sonoma. From Muscat di Canelli whose grapes are usually blended with other white grapes in vinx dous naturels wines to Cabernet Franc a red fruit most often blended with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot based wines. The tasting experience at Imagery Estate Winery is as fun and unique as the art on the walls.
