Murphy-Goode winery announced this spring that the company was in search of a social networking/marketing guru for a 6 month live-on-site position. Over two thousand interested people applied in person and online by creating a short biographical video. The purpose of the position is to create a buzz through social media about the Murphy-Goode winery and the Northern California wine lifestyle.
The winner of the three month long search, Hardy Wallace, was named in late July in a ceremony in the Healdsburg Town Square. Wallace will make the move to Healdsburg from Atlanta, Ga. where he is the founder of the 'Dirty South Wine' blog, a musician and a Sommelier Guild Level 1 and 2. Wallace was selected out of the top ten applicants for best matching the job criteria- excellent communication skills, personal presentation, video experience, motivation, "media presence," confidence, and an ability to clearly tell the story of Murphy-Goode Winery.
The 10 finalists spent 4 days in Healdsburg while participating in a grueling final interview process, touring the vineyards, playing poker and Liar's Dice, shopping, cooking and exploring wine country. Wallace was selected for the position and several other top applicants were also offered social media positions with Murphy-Goode, the details of which have not been made public yet. Wallace's position, however, is a 6 month contract position where he will live in Healdsburg while writing about his wine country experience.
