This summer Union Square will be full of festive concerts, performances and film screenings as the annual Jewels in the Square begins the summer performance season. The free performances began May 26th, 2010 and continue through October of this year. All festivities held in Union Square and organized by Jewels in the Square are family friendly and free to the public. This city event features many upcoming and emerging local talents that can only be seen in San Francisco. All performances can be seen on the main stage of the redesigned Union Square Park and most performances take place on Wednesdays at 12:30 pm and 6:00 pm and Sundays at 2:00 pm. Picklewater Free Circus Festival returns for its second year at Union Square bringing back free circus to Bay Area families. This free festival of circus arts features some of the best in Circus Arts from around the Bay Area. This month long festival will entertain, inspire and celebrate the rich tradition of circus arts by offering a mix of professional and student performers and a broad variety of circus styles.
