The Mostly British Film Festival Beginning Soon In San Francisco

Jan
27 2010

Beginning February 4, continuing until February 11 in San Francisco, and February 7-11 in San Rafael, is the Mostly British Film Festival. During this week-long celebration of independent foreign cinema, San Francisco residents and tourists will have an opportunity to enjoy films from the United Kingdom, New Zealand, South Africa and Ireland. The festival is produced by Ruth Stein and most of the movies will be screened at the historic Vogue Theatre located at 3290 Sacramento Street, San Francisco. There will also be a two day screening of selected films at the Rafael Film Center located at 1118 Fourth Street, San Rafael.

The California Film Institute and the San Francisco Neighborhood Theatre Foundation have worked in cooperation to make this film festival possible. Many of these films are not yet set for domestic distribution and can only be seen during this festival week. A few of the highlighted films to be screened are Candy, starring the late Heath Ledger in his final role, Balibo, starring Anthony LaPaglia in a political thriller set in Indonesia, and Bran Nu Dae, based on the first Aboriginal musical that has been described as 'Australian Bollywood'.
