The 49ers proposed new stadium is designed to include solar panels and a green roof along with several other important aspects that will be determined by a city wide vote slated for next year. The new stadium is following the lead of company's such as Extranomical Adventures by utilizing environmentally responsible business practices. The design which was recently unveiled to the Santa Clara city council will seat 68,500 fans and accommodate up to 75,000 people for large events such as Super Bowl.
The new stadium will move the upper deck closer to the field by stacking the clubhouse and suites on one side of the facility instead of wrapping the boxes around the stadium which is commonly seen in stadium design. The 49ers were originally looking to redesign the Candlestick Park sports arena, but due to 10 years worth of delayed progress because of projected traffic and building issues the team announced its plan to move 45 miles south to Santa Clara.
The funding for the team's new stadium will be split between the National Football League and the 49ers while 10% of the funding will be supplied by the city. For fans who enjoyed visiting San Francisco while attending a 49ers game this option is still viable considering the close proximity of Santa Clara and San Francisco.
