Gavin Newsom, the Mayor of San Francisco has announced that Sunday Streets will become a permanent program in the city. This program, which closes city streets to cars, was designed to allow residents to utilize the streets with alternative means of transportation. The final event of the year took place on Sunday September 6th and featured exhibits from the California Academy of Sciences and San Francisco Zoo, a human tire pull competition and a bike rental facility.

Sunday Streets originated in 2008 with two events and grew to six events in 2009. The final event took place along the Great Highway near Ocean Beach. Previous events occurred along the Embarcadero, the Bay Trail, the Mission District, and Golden Gate Park. Trips require a minimum number of participants to avoid cancellation. Cancellations or changes must be made 72 hours before trip departure to get partial refund, or at least 8 days in advance if the reservation includes hotel accommodation. Airport shuttle transfers and Alcatraz Tours are non-refundable. Cancellations and changes are subject to a 10% or $25 fee, whichever is greater. As a courtesy to your fellow passengers, it’s important to be on time. If you are late or miss your scheduled pickup time for the tour please contact our office immediately at 415-357-0700. An alternative pick up location may be arranged at customer expense, subject to availability. Any guest who misses their tour entirely will forfeit their seat on the tour. No refunds will be issued.
