San Francisco and Shanghai became Sister Cities in 1980 and have grown the bond between the two cities throughout the last three decades. This year's Sister City Celebration is a year long tribute bringing together a diverse group of over 30 Bay Area organizations that share a common theme of cooperating with and being inspired by Shanghai. Throughout the year city tourists can enjoy over 50 programs designed to highlight the international character that defines both San Francisco and Shanghai.
The concerts, performances, films, exhibitions and discussions are highlighted by the Asian Art Museum's Shanghai exhibit, which explores the history of one the world's most interesting cities. The exhibit opens February 12, 2010 and runs through September 5, 2010. For more information regarding the Asian Art Museum's Shanghai exhibit please visit their website at www.asianart.org.
