San Francisco Convention and Visitor's Bureau Team Up With San Francisco International Airport

Jul
30 2009

The San Francisco Convention and Visitor's Bureau (SFCVB) has partnered with SFO to expand the city's official travel website, www.sanfrancisco.travel . The new version of the site includes necessary visitor information and resources in seven languages: French, German, Italian, Korean, Spanish, Mandarin and Japanese. Both the Japanese and Chinese versions were launched in December of 2007 as beta test sites.

Each website includes the most popular travel information requested by San Francisco tourists required to plan and navigate a trip through the Bay Area. Some of the most essential information includes information about currency exchange, transportation to San Francisco from SFO, airport maps and details on shopping, dining, ground transportation and more.

The need to create an easier platform for international travelers to obtain travel information was due to the 1.7% increase in international tourism recorded by SFO in 2008. San Francisco welcomed 16.4 million visitors to the region and of this total 4.5 million were arriving from over seas. This increase in tourist traffic through SFO has created a long list of projects for the SFCVB which plans to launch more international friendly online tools within the next year.
