The San Francisco Convention and Visitor's Bureau has pledged to promote small city businesses by granting ten business grants this year. These grants will give ten small businesses membership to the Visitor's Bureau for one year, access to all bureau events and one-on-one mentoring by bureau staff. The estimated value of these grants is $1,600.00 each and most small businesses would be charged about $500.00 for membership alone.
The Convention and Visitor's Bureau believes that granting small city companies access to the bureau's success tools will open the door to a variety of tourism related economy boosters. Many small businesses are located in off the beaten path neighborhoods and the grants will provide the means for those businesses to gain exposure to the estimated 15.4 million city tourists each year. The bureau will also include these lesser known neighborhoods in their city wide marketing plans which is expected to boost tourism revenue greatly in these areas.
