The California State Tourism Board predicts the number of visitors touring the state will rise by nearly 3% this year. This is great news for California's battered economy and cities, such as San Francisco, that depend on the flow of tourism dollars. The predicted number of tourists this year could mean an increase in tourist spending totaling around $92 billion dollars on food, lodging and other expenses. The state tourism industry is expecting a 5% increase in spending over 2009.
The State Tourism Board expects greater numbers of tourists to flock to cities like San Francisco due to growing consumer confidence and a pent-up urge to travel. The San Francisco Convention and Visitors Bureau is anticipating more foreign tourists from Australia, China and South Korea. This prediction is based on a survey and study taken earlier this year and includes foreign tourists visiting other cities in the state as well. San Francisco's most popular sightseeing attractions are hoping for a busy and fruitful summer.
