Georgia O'Keefe and Ansel Adams Artistic Endeavors Celebrated in San Francisco

Jun
17 2009

One of the Bay Area's most well known tourist attractions, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, has opened its gallery doors to a show celebrating both Georgia O'Keefe and Ansel Adams as American artists. The exhibition titled "Georgia O'Keefe and Ansel Adams: Natural Affinities" attempts to draw parallels between both artists. Both artists were nature enthusiasts and attempted to capture the beauty of nature through the creative process and artistic means.

The work of O'Keefe's colorfully symbolic paintings and Adams' stark black and white photographs represents the wilds of the American West when viewed separately. Although the artwork is interesting and beautiful on its own, most art enthusiasts will agree that the combined exhibition of O'Keefe and Adams creates an experimental atmosphere and exudes a modernist, cubist and abstract aesthetic. The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art is one of the most popular tourist destinations in San Francisco and the current exhibition showcasing both Ansel Adams and Georgia O'Keefe is sure to attract art enthusiasts from across the globe. "Georgia O'Keefe and Ansel Adams: Natural Affinities" will show through September 7, 2009 and admission is $7-$12.
