San Francisco's annual Fleet Week will begin October 8th at noon with the Blue Angels flying their survey flights over the city in preparation of the weekend's airshow. The airshows are scheduled for Friday through Sunday and include the Blue Angels as well as team Oracle and the Patriots and stunt pilots Tim Weber and Michael Wiskus. Fleet Week is free to the public and can be easily viewed from several vantage points throughout the city including Dolores Park in the Mission, the Embarcadero, Crissy Field and the Marina Green.
Along with the famous airshows are the spectacular parade of ships and ship tours. The parade of Fleet Week ships takes place Saturday October 10th, 2009 at 11:30 am through 12:30 pm. The parade will consist of several Navy ships including the HCMS Edmonton, the USS Green Bay, the CGC Boutwell and the SS Jeremiah O'Brien. Ship tours will take place at Piers 15, 29, 30-32 from 11:30 am to 5:00 pm Sunday through Tuesday.
