Extranomical Adventures offset's their Carbon Foot Print

May
06 2009

As of 2009, Extranomical Adventures is officially a “carbon neutral” tour company, helping to neutralize the harmful CO2 emissions in our atmosphere.  There tends to be a lot of confusion when people discuss all of the ways that we can be more green and environmentally friendly, but there are certain things that everyone can do to help out.  As a tour operator, Extranomical Adventures recognizes that it has a particular responsibility to the environment, since it runs trips to Yosemite, Muir Woods and the Wine Country on a daily basis.  That’s why Extranomical has partnered with “Verus Carbon Neutral” to help fund projects around the world that aim to prevent deforestation and other projects that improve the atmosphere.  As we all know, trees are amazing in their ability to absorb the harmful carbon dioxide that we produce.  Extranomical has calculated its impact on the environment based on how many miles they drive throughout the year on tour and has been able to estimate how many trees and other projects would be required to offset this impact.  Carbon offsets are a great new way that companies can help reduce their impact to the environment and they prove that even something as seemingly small as planting a tree can make a huge difference overall.  The funding for carbon offsets goes to many different projects, including preventing deforestation, planting trees, and supporting clean energy development.  Starting this year, a portion of all of Extranomical ticket sales will go towards some of these green projects, so consumers can feel better about the impact that their travel has on the environment.  Carbon offsets have been a growing trend in the travel business and more and more people are realizing that we face a global threat that requires a global response.  Carbon offsets may just be a small step in fixing the damage that has already been created, but with enough companies and individuals helping to understand the problems we face and doing something about it, the more we will be able to achieve in the long run.
