During Sunday Streets All Are Welcome

Jun

Sunday Streets is a San Francisco celebration of health, community and life.  The idea behind Sunday Streets originated in Bogota, Columbia where the Ciclovia or 'bike path' event occurs on a weekly basis and draws more than 1.5 million people to bike, walk, skate and enjoy over 70 miles of public streets open to people but closed to automobile traffic.  Ciclovia was founded in 1976 and has grown to become the biggest and longest running event of its kind in the world.  This is San Francisco's second year hosting Sunday Streets and has expanded to include more days and neighborhoods in its celebration.

San Francisco's event is free and open to people of all ages, residents, businesses and tourists.  Sunday Streets is a great way to enjoy the city without the constant hum of automobiles.  Participants can enjoy group yoga, tai chi or peruse the local busineses.  This event is held Sunday mornings once a month and rotates between many of San Francisco's most popular neighborhoods.  The event will be held in the Mission on July 19th and move to the Great Highway in August and September.  Sunday Streets is a great event to end a weekend of touring the city and a fun and safe way to experience San Francisco's unique neighborhoods.  For more information please visit sundaystreetssf.com.
