The Walt Disney Family Museum in San Francisco is celebrating the well known character Peter Pan and the childhood story of Neverland. An exhibition in the Walt Disney Museum's lobby will be one of the highlights of this special event, which also includes film screenings, lectures by Kathryn Beumont, the voice of Wendy in the original Walt Disney Peter Pan, behind the scenes gallery tours and activities based around the story of Peter Pan in the Learning Center.
The artistic exhibition will include several vintage 1953 movie posters from the Walt Disney Family Collection as well as original drawings and character and story sketches dating to the late 1930's. The Walt Disney Animation Studios Research Library has also lent 16 concept drawings created by Mary Blair, who greatly influenced the overall look of the original Peter Pan film. Peter Pan will screen May 2nd - May 31st at 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm, except Tuesdays and May 22nd. Kathryn Beaumont will discuss her role as Wendy on May 22nd at 3:00 pm, a lecture comparing J.M. Barrie's book and Walt Disney's film will take place May 28th - May 31st at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm and families can create a Peter Pan Adventure Diary in the Learning Center on May 8th from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
