SFO Heightens Security Measures

SFO airport, San Francisco

San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom announced several security upgrades that are planned for San Francisco International Airport (SFO) in the coming months. Due to recent events over the holiday season, the San Francisco International Airport will be asking Congress for some of the 150 full body imaging machines that have been appropriated by the government for airports around the nation. SFO already uses one of these controversial machines and Mayor Newsom has stated that he would like to see at least one machine at each of the seven airport security checkpoints.

In addition to the body imaging machines SFO has secured a $5 million grant to upgrade the airports 1,000 security cameras. The Transportation Security Administration has granted several national airports funds to upgrade security systems and is expected to continue offering money to large international airports throughout the country in the coming year. San Francisco tourists are expected to experience no additional wait time upon arrival to SFO and are guaranteed a much safer and pleasant travel experience.
